Post-menopausal gynaecological check-ups, cancer screening and surgeries

The unique healthcare needs of postmenopausal women are often unmet by current healthcare systems in Palestine. At the same time, the deteriorating economic and political circumstances in the region have rendered many families unable to pay for cancer screenings and routine preventative check-ups that can lead to lifesaving treatment.

In 2013, Holy Family Hospital launched its Well Woman Clinic dedicated to meeting the complex healthcare needs of women past the childbearing age. The first of its kind in the region, it offers women postmenopausal health services, including routine screenings, gynaecological surgeries, and treatment, and cancer screenings. The Foundation subsidizes all Clinic visits by at least 50% and the initial visit is always free of charge to the patient.

In addition to operating at Holy Family Hospital, the Well Woman Clinic doctor regularly accompanies the Mobile Clinic to meet with the many women who cannot afford to travel to Bethlehem. As its patient base continues to grow, the Well Woman Clinic provides vital education to both men and women about the importance of preventative healthcare for women at every age.
