CloseThe Obstetric and gynaecology department has a total capacity of 45 beds including a 6 bed day care unit. The state of the art labor ward is equipped with 7 delivery rooms, a 2 bed recovery/ICU and an emergency caesarean section operating room. The department has also 2 other elective surgery operating rooms.
As the primary referral hospital for expectant mothers and babies in the region, Holy Family Hospital accepts the greater region’s most challenging medical cases. The 18-bed NICU cares for premature newborns, including a subset of these fragile infants known as “micro-preemies” who weigh as little as 450 grams (16 ounces) at birth.

A tradition at Holy Family Hospital since over a century, Out reach clinics were reintroduced in 1995. The service continued to grow and reached a much greater number of women living in rural villages and scattered communities. It enables medical and social care to be brought to the doorstep of mothers who are unable to travel to the hospital.
Antenatal and post-natal clinics attended by specialists and resident doctors are held daily. More than 36 000 patients consult per year. The clinics are modern and well equipped with ultrasound scanning and full laboratory back up. Few mothers receive regular health care during pregnancy and over 40% are seen for the first time when they walk into the hospital in labor.

In 2010, Holy Family Hospital Launched its Diabetic Clinic dedicated for screening of gestational diabetes in pregnant women between 24 – 28 weeks of pregnancy and treatment of gestational diabetes, treatment of pregnant woman who are known previously to have Diabetes before pregnancy. The clinics also run by a consultant OB/GYN, a Dietician and a Diabetic Nurse.
